At Parkview, we teach French from Year 3 up to Year 6, using the Kapow scheme of work. This is because the scheme gives the children the opportunity to not only learn another language, but also an opportunity to learn about another culture. The scheme also teaches the children techniques to improve and enhance retention and comprehension.

To supplement the scheme, we provide several enrichment opportunities throughout the year linked to French: for example, children study a famous French person and learn about French-speaking countries around the world. 

Children in Key Stage 2 also have the opportunity to learn Spanish and learn more about other European cultures during a European Languages afternoon.
